Editing a movie can also be referred to as movie tailoring. It is the art of arranging shots or footages according to a comprehensible viewpoint so that the audience can derive aesthetic pleasure from viewing or watching it. Editing a movie is made possible by video editing programs also known as a movie editor.

Editing a movie used to be a very lengthy and difficult task, way back when films were shot in celluloid. During those years, editing actually means the “cut to cut” technique wherein the video editors just sliced the unwanted filmstrip from the master roll and paste all the perfect or wanted shots into one.
