Figuring Figure Skating

May it be winter or not, many people find it amusing and even wonderful seeing somebody dance on ice. Watching graceful body movements on someone who glides over the white icy ground may create a dreamy feeling. Thus, it is not unusual that many entertainment performances including Disney’s that portray worldwide favorite fairy tales are done by excellent figure skaters.

Figure skating is different than just ice skating as much as ballet dancing is different from the other forms of dances. Figure skating involves not only graceful movements but also difficult stunts and liftings as well especially for the couple’s division. One can say that figure skating is a combination of sports and art as it involves athletic movements while interpreting music or sounds.

Many people, mostly ladies, get interested in learning the art of figure skating. Yet, the turns, glides and lifts are not so easy to master. In aiming to learn doing them, one must seek the help of a coach. For those who may want to compete in figure skating competitions, it is essential that he finds a professional coach preferably a member of Professional Skaters Association for proper training and guidance. It is also not easy to train as a figure skater as it is better to start at a young age when your body is still flexible enough to learn positions.
